Hands-on review: ZVEX Effects Fuzz Probe

Purchased from musiciansfriend.com for $79.00 Acutally I bought the combo complete with 20 watt practice amp, cord, and strap all for $149.00

I was impressed when it came out of the box. It was light "as stated in other reviews" In fact the strings were already on it andit was almost in tune right out of the box! It plays good. The neck is a good feel for me. I have average sized hands by the way. The paint job was nice. I chose black for the color. I like the location of the vol. and tone knobs as well as the output jack. It is underneath and out of the way where it belongs! Again I am not a pro just a newbie trying to get acquainted with a new intrument.

I don't like the word "Rogue" stamped on the front of my instrument. It announces to the whole world that you have an inexpensive instrument. Thats a pride killer but not a major issue here. My wife was not going to allow me to blow hundreds of dollars on my first bass. I also think the strings might be a tad too high. But I have heard this can be corrected easy enough by an experienced person.

The bass has a light but durable feel to it and make no mistake it has the feel of a precision instrument right out of the box. The back of the neck is baby smoothe man! I dropped the thing the first day I had it, and I mean it hit the ground HARD!!! No problems as of yet.

I have had it for about 2 months now and does its intended job. That is "It Plays Notes" Remember a bass is no better than the person playing it. I was shown that a few weeks ago. I have a friend that is an experienced guitar player, and when he picked up my bass and started making it talk I was encouraged. I am telling you that you dont have to spend $400 dollars on a Fender P-Bass to get started!! Get one of these and start making some noise, that is what its all about. And finally have FUN. Everything about playing musical instruments comes back to having FUN!!!!!
